Gentlemen,
It has been brought to my attention that there might be some problems with sending mail and goods from Europe to America. Because of this, so I’ve been told, there are for example many artists in England who refuse sending their artwork to the US because (as the saying goes) “it’s doubtful that the shipment arrives within reasonable time”.
As you may (or may not) know I am setting my focus of my knife making operation 2/3 on America an 1/3 on Austria and Germany.
If the information I received is correct I believe that it might be prudent to turn this figure around.
I really would appreciate your feedback and input here.

As long as it gets here eventually buddy. Smart people don’t try to rush an artist and having to wait a little bit longer just makes one appreciate the effort just that much more.

Unfuck, your shipment may arrive in the USA just fine, but once the USPS get their mitts on it, well who knows? Mark the package as Joe Biden Votes, if you want to ensure delivery.

On a more serious note:
I plan declaring exactly what’s inside the parcel. Something along like „hand crafted knife“ – But declaring its real value?
What about customs? Don’t they judge according to the items value?
What about USPS? Won‘t it be tempting for those guys….?

Insure it for about twice the value. Ask the customer if they want to spend money to ensure the shipment.
Bound print used to get a serious discount. I had a Welcome Wagon service and mailed stuff. Who says you can’t include a coupla coloring books?

I understand the first paragraph of what you’re suggesting and insurance surely makes sense.
Could you please explain what you meant in the second paragraph?
English isn’t my native language.

The box does Not Have to fit what you are shipping. A ten inch long, three inch wide, one inch tall box might get attention.

Ten inches isn’t an unusual overall size for fixed blade knives.
Right now I’m on the lookout for a supplier who could offer me wooden boxes for a reasonable price.
Thanks for your input!
